Malarvadi Colouring Contest - Season 3

Over 7,500 students to attend    Malarvadi mega drawing event         
 DOHA: Arrangements have been made for the mega drawing competition for children being organised by Malarvadi Balasangham Qatar chapter in association with Malabar Gold and Diamonds, which will be held on Friday, February 20.

The event, conducted as part of Indian Republic Day celebrations, is the largest in the GCC nations with more than 7,500 students from 15 Indian schools already registered for the competitions. Under the auspices of the Supreme Education Council, the event, which is in its third edition and  has complete backing of all Indian schools in Qatar, will be held simultaneously at MES School in Doha and Al Misnad School in Al Khor on Friday from 8 am until 5pm.

The hall tickets for all the registered students in four categories – Kids, Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior – have been distributed through their schools. This mega event is considered as an annual celebration of the students in Indian schools with the level of participants ranging from kindergarten to class seven. Birla Public School, DPS-Doha Modern Indian School are sending more students to this year's competiton.

 A jury, consisting of 15 prominent artists and painters, will select the winners. The first three winners in each category will be awarded gold medals, mementoes and certificates and the next 25 winners will be presented consolation prizes and certificates. Prize distribution will be held later at a grand programme.

A blood donation camp will also be organised for parents and guardians with the co-operation of  the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) during the event. Live painting show by prominent artists and other cultural programmes are also planned.

"This is the second consecutive year that the Malabar Gold and Diamonds have been sponsoring this mega event and we are very delighted to have our participation with the Malarvadi organisers," said T. V. Santhosh, the regional head.

Malarvadi Balasangham, a cultural, literary and entertainment forum for kerala students and kids between 4 years and 13 years, has more than 1,000 members in 29 units across Qatar and the organisers have made arrangements in both venues for those who wish to join as members.

An organising committe, headed by Malarvadi Chief Patron and President of Indian Islamic Association (IIA), K. C.  Abdul Lathif and assisted by V.T. Faisal, P.M. Abubacker, Siddiq Padiyath (Vice Chairmen), Abdul Lathif V.P (General Convenor) Ashraf N.P (Resources Convenor) and Abdul Jaleel M.M (Programme Convenor) has been formed. Around 500 volunteers from Indian Islamic Association and Youth Forum will render their services in both centres to help the event run smoothly.

IIA Secretary PM Aboobackar, Public Relation Secretary Mohamed Ali M, Malabar Gold Regional Head Santhosh, Malarvadi Chief Coordinator Siddique Padiyath and Programme Convener Abdul Jaleel MM attended the press conference.
